In response to increased global attention to gender issues, there is a growing need for knowledge and skills in gender and development.

Non-degree Certificate Course in Gender and Development Programme is a direct response to this critical need. It aims to build human resources in the development of the Nation’s relevant social and economic strategies that could help overcome poverty and ensure sustainable development.

Programme Objectives

The main objective of the Non-degree Certificate in Gender and Development is to improve the skills of participants working with women, men, and children (boys and girls) on the role of policy analysis in solving important gender problems and develop their analytical and communication skills in order to undertake effective policy analysis.

The specific objectives are to:

  • Expose candidates to introductory concepts, issues and methods in gender and development.
  • Familiarize candidates with the pervasiveness and outcomes of unequal gender relations.
Admission Requirements
Applicants for admission into the non-degree Certificate programme should have at least OND or NCE certificate. However, school certificate holders who have acquired enough experience working on development issues (minimum of two years) will also be considered for the programme.
Duration
The course will run for 8 weeks.
