    PROGRAMME TITLE: CERTIFICATE COURSE IN PORTUGUESE AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

    PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION


    The programme prepares students for Certificado de Proficiencia de Portues, Lingua Estrangeira-BRASIL examination organized twice a year by the Brazilian Ministry of Education with the support of the Brazilian Ministry of External Affairs (Itamaraty). It is held simultaneously all over the world for the award of a certificate that is similar to the TOEFL which is required by non-losophone candidates intending to study in Brazil.

    Programme Duration
    The programme is full time and run for six months. The programme is non-residential and candidates make their own private accommodation arrangements.

    Mode of Study: Face to face at the Department of Foreign Languages, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

    Programme Prerequisites
    Applicants must possess a minimum of 5 Ordinary Level (O’ Level) credits at WASC/NECO.

    Mode of Application:
    Application is strictly online by creating an account at (www.oaucdl.edu.ng/prog_2). After creating the accont, purchase a Bank Draft of N7,500 in the Name of Centre for Distance Learning, OAU, from any branch of Skye BAnk, First Bank or UBA. After that, such bank draft should be scanned and sent to: programme@oaucdl.edu.ng. Applicant's Details like Name, Username and Phone Number must be sent along with the bank draft.

    PROGRAMME TITLE: CERTIFICATE COURSE IN FRENCH LANGUAGE

    PROGRAMME CATEGORY: CERTIFICATE

    Applications are invited from interested Candidates for admission into the Centre for Distance Learning intensive Certificate Programme in French language.

    ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

    Applicants must possess a minimum of 3 Ordinary Level (O’ Level) credits at WASC/NECO. English Language is required.
    If you are an adult learner interested in learning French language or want to improve your existing French language skills, this French language programme could be for you. This programme offers evening courses to Obafemi Awolowo University members of staff, students and the general public. The class group shall be a maximum of 20 students. The syllabus incorporates key elements of Level One of the UK National Language Standards and conforms to the First and Second Level of the European Language Framework

    DURATION

    The Programme will be divided into four different categories:

    • First Level Basic I Certificate
    • First Level Basic II Certificate
    • Second Level I Certificate
    • Second Level II Certificate

    Each level will last for two (2) months. Classes will be audiovisual method based and priority will be given to Oral Language, Reading, Writing and Grammar will be introduced as learning progresses.

    PROGRAMME TITLE: NON-DEGREE CERTIFICATE COURSE IN GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT STUDIES

    PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION
    In response to increased global attention to gender issues, there is a growing need for knowledge and skills in gender and development, there is no local training institution to address this need.
    Non-degree Certificate Course in Gender and Development Programme is a direct response to this critical need to build human resources to development the Nation’s relevant social and economic strategies that could help the nation overcome poverty and ensure sustainable development.

    OBJECTIVES
    The main objective of the Non-degree Certificate in Gender and Development is to improve the skills of participants working with women, men, and children (boys and girls) on the role of policy analysis in solving important gender problems and develop their analytical and communication skills in order to undertake effective policy analysis.
    The specific objectives are to:

    • Expose candidates to introductory concepts, issues and methods in gender and development.
    • Familiarize candidates with the pervasiveness and outcomes of unequal gender relations

    ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
    Applicants for admission into the non-degree Certificate programme should have at least OND or NCE certificate. However, school certificate holders who have acquired enough experience working on development issues (minimum of two years) will also be considered for the programme.

    DURATION: The course will run for 8 weeks.

    PROGRAMME TITLE: POST GRADUATE CERTIFICATE COURSE IN GENDER STUDIES AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

    PROGRAMME CATEGORY: CERTIFICATE
    PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION
    The Post Graduate Certificate Course in Gender Studies aims at providing a rigorous, integrated and relevant postgraduate experience for students so that their educational and career objectives would be enhanced through creative and scholarly feminist / gender analysis of men and women’s lives. The programme will teach the enrolled students how to apply feminist/gender methodologies, analysis and problem-solving to their chosen academic fields. The will also learn to integrate the rigours of scholarship in gender studies into their chosen professions, as a means of enhancing their professional lives and opportunities for advancement.

    OBJECTIVES

    • Discuss the importance of gender issues in development;
    • Introduce candidates to the linkages between gender equality and development;
    • Provide a professional credential to supplement other training; Analyse gender inequality in access to education, health, labour markets, employment opportunities and productive resources and how this affects development;
    • Understand the usefulness of gender as an analytical tool across disciplines and;
    • Revise tools available to integrate gender issues in poverty analysis and policies for managing socio-economic development.
    ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
    Applicants for the Graduate Certificate Course in Gender Studies should have a university degree from an approved university.

    DURATION: The course will last for one semester of 3 months.
