The Faculty of Law at Obafemi Awolowo University, one of Nigeria’s premier legal training institutions since 1962, has partnered with the Centre for Distance Learning (CDL) to offer this innovative certificate programme. Each level of the programme spans 3 months and provides legal education from basic to advanced levels in a format that is both accessible and flexible. Delivered through virtual lectures and online resources by seasoned faculty via Juris Consultus, the consultancy unit of the Faculty of Law, the programme is available online to everyone, anywhere. For those who prefer physical interaction, offline options are also available.

Do I need a law background to enroll?
No. The programme is open to all interested candidates, regardless of academic or professional background.
How is the programme delivered?
The programme is delivered both online (via virtual lectures and digital materials) and offline (for those who prefer face-to-face contact).
How long does each level take?
Each level—Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced—lasts three (3) months.
Can I take all levels at once?
No. You must complete each level sequentially, starting from Basic before proceeding to Intermediate and Advanced.
Are classes held on weekends or weekdays?
Classes are scheduled flexibly, with most sessions designed to accommodate working professionals. Details will be provided upon enrollment.
What are the admission requirements?
Applicants need five O’Level credits, including English, in no more than two sittings. Alternatively, three years of relevant work experience may suffice.
Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. A Certificate in Legal Studies will be awarded upon successful completion of each level.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must possess a minimum of five (5) credit passes including English Language in WAEC/NECO/GCE O'Level or its equivalent, obtained in not more than two sittings. Alternatively, candidates with at least three (3) years of working experience in either a private or public establishment may also be considered for admission.

Award of Certificate
Participants will receive a Certificate in Legal Studies upon successful completion of the required courses for each level.
