Diploma in Dramatic Arts
Programme Objectives
The primary objective of this programme is to train students towards professional and academic scholarship in all the areas of Theatre and Media Arts. Students will be guided to apply their knowledge towards practical productivity as the end result of their programme of training.
There are specializations available in various practical and theoretical aspects of the Dramatic and Theatre Arts. They include:
- Dance and Mime
- Management of the Arts
- Radio/Television and Film Production
- Acting
- Directing
- Stage Lightning and Design
- Stage Management
- Playwriting.
With these skills, the graduates are well equipped to be established on their own or seek employment in various capacities. The programme will also avail the students of the opportunity to pursue further studies especially within the purview of Theater and Communication Arts.
Admission Requirements
Admission is by an Entrance Examination and an audition organized by the department. To be eligible for admission, candidates must have passed any five (5) subjects at Credit level including English Language, Literature-in-English and one other art subject at the Senior School Certificate Examination, General Certificate of Education (GCE) or National Examination Council (NECO).
Duration
Diploma in Dramatic Arts (DDA) shall be awarded on successful completion of the programme, which shall last for two (2) academic Sessions.
